TOURS

Since 2012, we have been organizing tours with selected WHU students who share our passion for entrepreneurialism and innovation. Over the years, we have visited a variety of cities in Germany, where we organized workshops and interactive events such as dinners and excursions with founders and venture capital firms.

All of our recent events received “very good” feedback by the participants – often connected with the interest in applying for a position in the visited companies:

Instead of giving you heaps of reasons as to why you should apply to our tours, we rather let our previous tours speak for themselves…

Hamburg Tour

In January 2019 we visited Hamburg for the third time. Within two days we were able to feel the entrepreneurial spirit of one of Germany’s most beautiful cities. During this time, we managed to visit eight companies, which shared insights and best practices on team management, business applications of technology and founding experiences. The heterogeneous group with participants from various WHU classes was able to visit some of the most interesting and successful start-ups in Hamburg.

Almost all companies were represented by the founders themselves, many of whom are WHU alumni. Besides the workshops, the participants had ample time for Q&A with the founders as well as networking.

Berlin Tour

Since March 2012 we have been organizing the SmartUp! Berlin Tour as our flagship event. Every year we spend three days in Germany’s startup capital to visit ten interesting companies. Our goal is to give all participants the opportunity to experience the Berlin startup scene as it really is and to meet interesting founders, company builders and VCs.

25 Students from all WHU programs have the chance to join us in Berlin and to be part of the interesting company visits. After the official program ends many take the chance to explore Berlins club and party scene, sometimes accompanied by the startups.

Munich Tour

Our last Munich tour took place in October 2018. During one exciting day we visited a variety of startups in the Munich startup scene with its peerless spirit.

It was the third time for us to visit Munich as destination and once again it was a great success. Both, the 28 participating students and the companies were very happy with the tour as everyone had learned a lot, while having a great time. One of the tour’s highlights was the sponsor dinner where students and WHU founder alumni had the chance to get to know each other on a more personal level in a relaxed atmosphere.

After the tour, the Oktoberfest was waiting for us…

Cologne Tour

In 2014, 2015, and 2017 we visited the city of Cologne. In one-day trips we got to know the distinctive culture and upcoming startup scene of the 4th biggest German city. Although Cologne may not seem like the typical start-up city, it may surprise you how many founders choose to make this wonderful city as their base.

As usual all of the presentations were very interactive and held in an informal atmosphere. Up to 30 WHU students gained great insights from the founders and CEOs of some of Cologne’s greatest startup and venture capital companies.

Düsseldorf Tour

In In 2019 we visited Düsseldorf for the first time, and had an exciting tour with a variety of companies. Although Düsseldorf may not be known for its start-up scene, there are still founders who decided to make Düsseldorf their home-base, may it be for strategic or personal reasons. Up to 20 WHU students were allowed to join this unforgettable tour and had the chance to gain invaluable entrepreneurial insights.

This time, we ended the evening with some drinks and pizza at Orrick, where we got to connect with each other on a more personal level.
